MAD GRAND OPENING!
September 25th, 2008 at 11:48am Josh
Ok, so we’ve been a little remiss in posting to the blog. We have a good excuse: the Museum of Arts and Design opens to the public on Saturday, September 27th, and there were one or two last minute things that we’ve been working on over the past few weeks. Here’s a sneak peak at our 6th floor studios, where artists will be working in a variety of mediums and interacting with the public throughout each day.

This is exciting. Being able to meet the artists, better understand their creative processes, and watch week-to-week as the artists and their work emerge is a great idea. I look forward to stopping by regularly and learning…and watching…and admiring the results.

As an engineer, it’s a pleasure to learn more about how different arts and crafts are made – it also inspires me to try it myself!

Down from Alfred University, MAD & NYC open as a flower, distinct and discrete. In the echo chamber of an ART demo room, an educational techinque demontstration is juxtapostioned by a CAD system projecting on designer white walls.
Dichotomy of modern architecture with the assemblage of musuem artifacts fits social current of Art and Design reflected in the pool of Craft.
Waiting to rendez vous with Christine Jetten, the designer of the ceramic glaze for the exterior skin, the hour arrives, when the “public” members shift into the guests-artists and designers. A one hour gap.

I’m so glad the museum finally found a location worthy of its collection. Judith Schaechter’s installation is phenom!

This is one of the most interesting museums that I have ever been to. My nine year old daughter, my fiance and I were on our way to Central Park to see the Balto statue and found ourselves staring at creatures made out of balloons. We had to take a closer look. We were told that the museum entrance was free today! What a treat! A great museum!! What a great experience. Right now, my daughter is sculpting with an artist. Thank You

We had a wonderful time here! The encouraged interaction with the museum and its art is amazing. We’ll be here more often!

We have the only hotglass operation in sub-Saharan Africa. We run an exchange course/experience called ‘Bush Glass’. Anyone fancy a trip to Kenya?
