Cherub Modeling

Today I spent my entire day in the MAD Studios modeling the cherub for my lampbase. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I began working with an oil-based modeling clay today called “Prima” that I have never used before -it has a very soft, creamy consistency that allows for relatively effortless form making and repeated adjustments. I was so happy to have found this material, as the wet earthenware clay I was using to model the figurine just dried too quickly from one week to the next. Posted images show: My work table with a book opened to an image of a Meissen porcelain tureen from the 18th century that inspired my project. You can see that the Meissen piece is far more complicated than my design with multiple figures and 3-D flowers applied. My design only has two figures, which are shown here alongside of the book. I have also uploaded some photos that show the cherub section of the drawing in greater detail, and the model as I left it at the end of my day.
Prima!
