Reading Room

Having come to clay through a circuitous route, my interests are varied.  I attempt to share my influences during my time in the studio on Sundays by having a table of visual books for the visitors to look through.  The titles range from architecture to painting and sculpture, from craft to micro-photography.

The display sometimes creates an instant bond between the visitors and myself.  Many practice in related fields and have in-depth knowledge of the subjects presented.  Some are architects or architecture students who share with me an interest in mining the visual structures of biological and natural forms and in looking at works from the past for inspiration.

There are also all the people who have ever had an experience with clay along with those interested in the exhibits.  Among the titles are some exhibition catalogs from the 60′ and 70′s with works by many of the artists represented in MAD’s permanent collection.

Come by for a browse through my abbreviated collection and to see some work in progress.
