Malleable Extract

I can hardly believe a month of Open Studio’s has already passed! My exchanges with the visitors have been wonderful and among the many notable characters I have met, I recently spoke with two opera singers, a student of electrical engineering and travelers from Qatar, Israel and France. I regularly speak with visitors about my works relationship to the natural world. It often functions as an access point, allowing viewers to relate to the abstract forms. My hope is that this current work extends beyond the ‘subjectification’ of nature and I would like to expand briefly on some additional facets in my thought process.
On one level the ‘brain fruit project’ is intended to be the physical manifestation of an idea as it comes to fruition: as if you could pluck a thought from your mind and observe as the malleable extract ripens and shifts. The globules I am fabricating will eventually be assembled into a large installation; a network connected by hundreds of linear elements that signify synaptic exchange. The intricate meshwork will appear as a cohesive system; as though the viewer is observing the inner connections of the brain itself. This work is closely tied to my interest in human consciousness, the elasticity of the mind and its potential for perpetual ripening.

I think that this is really cool!!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard of Qatar but I’m jewish so that has to do with Israel and I would like to go to France. Today i looked at two exhibits and I like the costumes on floor level 4. I like the the exhibits with the lentils and thd the tights. In that exhibit, I also liked the loom. I liked the beans and rice floor sculpure too. The butterflys were awesome. This museum is really cool so far!
