Good-Bye

Last week we went to visit the Brooklyn Museum to view Andy Warhol: The Last Decade. He had very different works of art then other artist we have seen. One thing I notice in his exhibitions was the use of repetition.  It was really interesting. Warhol would take one piece of his work and repeat it various of  times and in various forms. I also learned that he was a very religious artist and he used that inspiration a lot in his art. For example he painted a replica of “The Last Supper” and wrote various religious quotes such as “Heaven and Hell are a breath away”.

We also visited Surroundart were we learned how art is safely stored, packed, and transported. The different material that they used for the art to be safely carried from one place to another was really different. Every crate that they make is especially for that piece of art, making each one they make custom made.

This is our last week in our Arts Life internship I am very sad to be leaving the program but I have taken a lot from this experience. I have learned how important it is to value art, a museum work place, an artist inspiration, and work experience. I’m very grateful to have been in this program I thank everyone in MAD including Bobby for making this a learning experience.  Throughout the program I interacted with different people and I enjoyed working with them. Everyone has been really nice and welcoming, I enjoyed talking to them and learning about their different jobs they have at the museum. My internship with Linda in Visitor Services has taught me a lot such as how to work with the public and not take bad comments seriously. I also learned that the public opinion matters to the museum. It helps them know the public view of the museum and if it needs improvement or not. Many of the things that I learned in the ArtsLife internship I can apply to my life. If I was given this opportunity again I would definitely go for it. My favorite event in this program was making our own jewelry and goblets. This was my favorite event because we got to learn how hard it is to make a piece of art and all the hard work someone had to put into it. I had a lot of fun making my own jewelry even though I had many complications. It was worth it in the end looking at a finished piece. Making our own goblet was also very fun, I have never worked with many of the materials we used and it was a long interesting process.
