A New Begining . . .

Hello to who ever is reading this rite now. I am a new intern working at MAD it has been an interesting way to start of my year but I am glad to have chosen this internship. I choose to be part of a program called ‘Studio Sundays’ and it’s a place where every week a different artist comes in and shares their art talent with anyone who shows up. I like ‘Studio Sundays because I feel that the environment your set in is a calm relaxing place where your mind is set free and you can expand beyond your thoughts by creating something out of nothing. On my first ‘Studio Sunday’ we took a tour on the ‘Think Again’ exhibition where we learned about many different Latin American jewelry and its story behind it. Every piece of jewelry carried its own past which made it unique from the others. There were different types of emotions when the artists put together its jewelry piece. For example in one of the necklaces a women puts together a significant amount of bottles. The bottles represent her mothers sickness and where the medication was being kept , so she keeps these bottles and makes a chain and in one particular bottle she puts a red bead , from my opinion she puts it their to represent the heart and all the hard work her mother had to go through because of her sickness. After tour we went into the workshop in the workshop we took simple materials and made any type of jewelry that represented something important or meaningful to you. Spending a day at MAD and being part of Studio Sunday is a great way of spending your Sunday afternoons because you have the change to see art in a totally different level that you will be surprised at the end of your day. This museum has so many different activities and workshops and I think everyone should be become more involved with the museum because I am more than sure the outcomes will be great. I hope to grow and learn as a person and my expectations are very high and I am sure this museum will become a important part of my journey.
