Sugar glass is now going to the Whitney Museum

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be teaching another Edible Glass Workshop as a part of Trade School at the Whitney: Coincidence of Wants special evening at the Whitney Museum of American Art on March 25th (Fri). Much part of the idea for this workshop has been generated through my experiments during the open studios.... once again, I'd like to say big thanks to the MAD Museum for giving generous time and space.

Time flies like light and I am already approaching the end of 2010winter-2011spring open studio. Thanks to the great MAD facility, I was able to produce a lot of sugar-glass cups. For the past 2 weeks, I have been giving the cups away with fruit punch and lemonade.

Edible Glass Workshop at Trade School

Trade School is an innovative place where you can teach/take classes in exchange for any kinds of goods or ideas. In this workshop, I will be introducing some of the fun candy manipulating techniques, such as blowing, pulling, and casting etc. Please join me on Sunday afternoon to experience the fusion of art, science and cooking... be ready to get your hands sticky!!

The last few weeks at the studio has been quite productive. In addition to exploring vessel forms, now I have ideas for a new work. It'll be an installation that consists of approximately 1,500 individually wrapped sugar glass shards on a long table, and the viewers will be encouraged to take a packet with them. The image here is a prototype version I'm currently working on.
