A New Begining . . .

Hello to who ever is reading this rite now. I am a new intern working at MAD it has been an interesting way to start of my year but I am glad to have chosen this internship. The end of a great journey… Begins another one

For me this has been an interesting and extraordinary summer. Not only for the wonderful things I’ve come to do in this program, for example, the goblet and the jewelry project, but also the experience I acquired. Indeed, I emphasized my definition of a museum and its purpose in society. A museum is considered a place where extraordinary ‘inanimate’ objects with a variety of meanings are to be found. A museum is a place to feel wonders, based on what the individuals observes, and gathers people together at some point to share their opinions. I learned, working in a museum, one ought to be friendly not only with your colleagues but also with the visitors. With this in mind, people would have much less difficulty while working together.

My Farewell

My last farewell. I don’t want to say goodbye, but I have to unfortunately. I had such a great time. I learned many new things from time and money management to learning how to make a podcast and produce music. The thing I will miss most is the friendships and connections I made at the internship. The thing I will miss least is the long walks and commutes from museum to museum on field trips. The field trips were a great experience too. Before I came to the internship I didn’t like going to museums that much, but now I would like to go to museums on my own time. At the internship the thing I liked most was working with Josh and electronics.

The End.

The end of this internship has unfortunately arrived and now it is farewell time. I was able to learn a lot from this internship. In the beginning we met all the staff of this museum who shared their experience of working here and gave us advice for life. Before I use to be a lot more concerned and nervous about my career. I use to think that in life to be successful one should know exactly what one want to do and should be focused only in that particular field to master it. However after hearing from all these people in my internship my point of view has completely changed. Now I think in life it is better to be open to all kind of opportunities and experiences. You never know if you might come across something much better however if you stay at the same place your entire life you will never know about the other possibilities. It is always better to know more then to know less.

The End

This summer I had an amazing adventure, an adventure of art, and city life, and fascinating people. I learned about working and communicating with people, but most importantly the way I am in a working space. I feel so lucky to have been given this experience.

Bye to all

I can’t believe this internship at MAD is almost over. I really had a good experience while I was here. I learned a lot about art that I never knew and how a museum works and all the different departments. While being at this internship I learned how to organize and plan a public program for high school students and how to give a tour of the museum (I was ok for my first tour). At this internship I gained a lot of work experience and enjoyed all the places that we went. Last Friday we went to the Andy Warhol exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.

Good-Bye

Last week we went to visit the Brooklyn Museum to view Andy Warhol: The Last Decade. He had very different works of art then other artist we have seen. One thing I notice in his exhibitions was the use of repetition. It was really interesting. Warhol would take one piece of his work and repeat it various of times and in various forms. I also learned that he was a very religious artist and he used that inspiration a lot in his art. For example he painted a replica of “The Last Supper” and wrote various religious quotes such as “Heaven and Hell are a breath away”.

Last week of our dear Arts Life-FINAL BLOG

This is a sad week for us at the Arts Life Program at the MAD museum. It is ending & I feel we could do so much more if only we had more time. Its depressing to think that after all the time we spent with each other it is finally ending. I will miss the people I met in & outside the museum. It was a fun time meeting all these new people and relating with one another. Sorry I get a bit emotional thinking about it.

So long ; farewell =(

Well these weeks have flew by and we’re at the end of our journey. I can truly say this has been a wonderful and helpful experience to my life. It has allowed me to see a different view on something and that something is the art world. I remember you use to have to drag me inside of a museum now I would freely walk into one.

Hands on ………

Hmmmmmm so little time and a lot learned. Last week we had two hands on activities. We created goblets and made our own jewelry. I enjoyed the goblet making more then jewelry. Just off the simple fact I cut my finger off in the jewelry workshop, both were fun though. In the goblet workshop I created a ballet pointe shoe. It came out better then I expected. I painted it pink and green, two of my favorite colors. In the jewelry workshop I created a set of earrings, they weren’t what I wanted at first but they came out good. For both creations I’m very proud of myself, I did something I wouldn’t normally think about doing.
